ETH, not WETH. A coin paired with ETH trades against native ether. Buys, sells, fees and holder rewards are all in ETH, with no wrapping.
The depth test
Before every launch, the pair asset's market is measured live, on-chain. It needs enough real depth:
| minimum depth | |
|---|---|
| a coin on the list | $10,000 |
| a token pasted by address | $25,000 |
Being on the list lowers the bar but never removes it. If a listed coin's market dries up, it stops qualifying as a pair, automatically. The bars are lower than on bigger chains on purpose: Ink's markets are younger and thinner, and these still keep out pools that would break on the first trade.
How depth is measured
Depth is read on every venue with real liquidity on Ink, and only the best one counts. Never the sum: you can't trade through two pools at once.
| venue | reading |
|---|---|
| Uniswap v4 | the pool's liquidity, walked tick by tick like a real swap |
| Uniswap V3, Velodrome Slipstream (both factories) | the pool's price and liquidity history over 30 minutes |
| Velodrome classic pools, InkySwap, DYORSwap, Uniswap V2 | the pool's reserves |
It's measured against five anchors, ETH, USDT0, USDC, USDG and kBTC. ETH and kBTC are priced by Chainlink, the dollars at par. USDG is there because every stock trades against it. A 30 minute history can't be faked without actually holding the liquidity for 30 minutes, and every reading is capped by the tokens really in the pool, so a tight range can't inflate the number.
Pasting a coin that trades on Uniswap v4
Most pools are found on their own. A Uniswap v4 pool isn't: it has to be registered once, by anyone, for everyone. The form handles it. Paste the address: if its market is on v4, the form finds the pool and offers a single "Add pool" button. One transaction, and the coin counts.
Coins launched on Octopad
They're v4 coins like any other. Once $25,000 of real depth has built up in a coin's pool, it can serve as the pair for a new launch.
Why an asset is refused
| reason | what it means |
|---|---|
| Not a token | the address isn't an ERC-20 |
| Unsupported decimals | not between 6 and 18 |
| No reference pool | no market against ETH, USDT0, USDC, USDG or kBTC. On v4, maybe just not registered yet |
| Too new | its pool doesn't have 30 minutes of history yet. Wait a bit |
| Not enough depth | the market is under the bar |
| No price yet | temporary, try again |
